BMW Riders Association Rally

BMW Riders Association Rally

The annual BMW Riders Association Rally was held at the beautiful Canaan Valley Resort in Davis, West Virginia from Thursday September 14 thru Sunday September 17.

Riders began arriving on Thursday, setting up camp, and preparing for a weekend of fun!  Friday and Saturday saw cool but sunny skies, and some great weather for riding.   The pavement in West Virginia is “top notch”, and with rare exception, most of the roads look like they were just paved yesterday!  Seneca Rocks was a popular destination for riders (about half an hour away), but there were so many miles of beautiful twisty roads in the area to explore . . . as well as numerous gravel and dirt roads for those who wanted to venture off the pavement.  It was easy to see why West Virginia is such a popular area for motorcyclists!

And after two beautiful days on the bike, there was live music from the Silas Powel Band on Friday evening, and the Soda Pop Gypsies on Saturday evening, both at the Bear Paw Lodge.  The venue included a small pub for beverages, as well as a large fire pit to help ward off the chilly evening temperatures!

Unfortunately, the weather was forecast to deteriorate late Saturday night into Sunday morning with rain on the way, and many riders packed up and headed home on Saturday afternoon and evening.  Those who stayed woke up to rain on Sunday morning, but overall . . . most of the Rally saw beautiful weather!

For the Riders of Southern Maine (as well as other riders from northern New England), one of the highlights of the Rally was the announcement that the 2024 BMW RA Rally will be held in Fryeburg, ME next summer over the Labor Day weekend!  This is great news, and something that RSM Club Members can both look forward to and contribute to!  No doubt there will be more to follow . . .
