Frozen Bunz 2023

Frozen Bunz 2023

The first club campout of the season is in the books!  The annual Frozen Bunz campout took place last weekend April 21-23, and the weather was cooperative.  Four riders made their way to Barnes Field group camping area in the White Mountains near Gorham, NH following the walk-through at Agassiz Village to check out the facilities for the upcoming DownEast Rally.  The boys got camp set up prior to a rousing afternoon ride and firewood run.  Two more rolled in with a sidecar outfit and camper in tow to round out the group for Friday night.  An awesome evening sitting around the campfire telling stories, and getting ready to rest up for a Saturday ride.  Chilly night, but not below freezing.  Breakfast campfire going by 6:30 for coffee, breakfast and more comradery and planning the days ride.  An awesome ride with some great scenery and twisties including segments of NH routes 175 and 113.  Overcast and lower 50’s but still a comfortable day for riding.  Big surprise to find club President Mike and Melinda Palmer at the campsite on our return!  Mike’s special chili and cornbread was a big hit and led to another great evening of campfire comradery.  Everyone rose early on Sunday morning for a farewell campfire breakfast.  Very small amounts of drizzle off and on as everyone broke camp, but no real rain throughout the weekend.  Cleaned up, fire out, and on the road by 8:30 for a big breakfast in Bethel, then home to Harpswell for us arriving before noon.

Anyone who missed it missed a really great weekend.  Next up:  The DownEast Rally May 19-21 at Agassiz Village in Poland and the June Camping weekend at another great venue, Rangeley Lake State Park the weekend of June 23-24.  Mark your calendars and don’t miss it!!
